my chosen Shakespeare tragedy-Romeo and Juliet
The first thing we did was chose the tragedy we were going to study. This is the document I had to write for the project
Jacta Alea Est
(The Die is Cast)
Hamlet, as story about an intelligent, young man, who is of royal lineage, who ponders life’s most troublesome questions in the face of his father’s death. He is caught between taking revenge on his evil uncle, and therefore righting what is wrong, or taking a passive stance, and letting God do the job by sending his uncle to Satan. Hamlet also is troubled by the women in his life, his mother married his uncle after his father’s death and is thoughtless, and Ophelia, his love, can’t think for herself and ends up dying before the end of the play.. He ponders life and death throughout the play, even thinking of committing suicide. In the end, Hamlet, his mother, and his uncle are all dead, along with Ophelia’s brother.
Romeo and Juliet is a play that should be happy and joyful. It’s about a young couple from clashing families who fall in love. The play focuses on human interactions, and how people who are fighting can eventually come to peace. The two families have an intense hatred for each other, and the two lovers know there is no way they can go through life together living near their families. A few people die in this feud, four of them as a direct result of this relationship.
I choose to further study Romeo and Juliet. I have done some previous study of Hamlet and understand that play fairly well. I wish to broaden my knowledge of Romeo and Juliet, and like the idea of a tragic romance.

It's important to know the characters you're working with. We all created some type of grid to show who was who in the play.
We were asked to learn vocabulary from our tragedy of choice. The list that we learned from had to have 40 words or more. This was my highest score, in the game.
For this project we had to create a cartoon from a scene in our tragedy. The characters from this site move funny, so some of the body poses might be a little weird.
Shakespeare often wrote in iambic pentameter, which is a group of five (penta) stressed and unstressed syllables (iambs) on a line (meter). We learned about these meters and were asked to record ourselves saying them. Here's my whirl at it.
This project was probably my favorite of the whole class. We were asked to create a "Fakebook" page for the character of our choice, and I chose Tybalt Capulet.
